Just wanted to check in with all of you. Yesterday was a really long day. Had a hard time with Internet last night. I did however upload some photos to my Facebook events page. You should check that out to see some of the updated pics.
Yesterday was another hard one. I went deeper into the Slums and was able to tour some homes. I can honestly tell you that there is nothing ever to get you prepared for this. The need is so great. My heart was broken many times.
Have more updates. I’m going to work today to try and update here on the blog. I do have so much to share!!
Thank you all for your support. It’s a lot to take in.

This trip has definitely made me rethink what happiness and contentment is. I mean - we all can give certain truths and what we believe. But until you see something like this - it’s hard to say we truly know.
I dare say any of us have faced what these kids have faced - and have done it with such grace and love. It makes you think - what are we really doing to make a meaning….

My new friend Kevin.
Today was a hard one for me. I had the pleasure to work with Vision Hope today with their Awana program. This is a special treat for the local kids as it gives them activity and a safe place to go and play. Today was the first day of the new year for Awana in 2009, which caused that mush more of excitement. I have a lot of great photos of the day to share, which I started to upload them to my Facebook Event page. Check them out when you get a second. The work that Vision hope is doing over here is really good and much needed! I will get into that in more detail in another post.
I want to introduce you to my new friend and to ask you to desperately pray for him. His name is Kevin Nzoroze and he lives in the Slums. This is one of the sweetest kids around. He is 18 years old now and he lost his Mom to aids in 2002 and his Dad passed away in 2005. He has been wondering the streets since then. Every now and then he finds a friend to let him sleep in their shack to get out of the weather. My heart broke for him - I can hardly explain it. God is good though. This kid has such a wonderful story and is still filled with hope.
Please pray for him and think about him while you look over the photos and read these posts. He deserves a better life!

Well, the sun has gone down and we are into night time here in Nairobi. I have experienced so much today and I am trying to settle down from it all so I can properly go through it all in my mind and heart. The children are amazing. I can’t get enough of them. They are full of joy and love and just desire you to take attention to them.
I pulled out my video camera once and started to film them playing. As they started to realize that I had something different - they go excited and huddled all around me. I took the view screen and flipped it around so they could see them selves on the screen as it was recording - this started a frenzy. The kids showed so much transparency and excitment - that it became overwhelming to me. It was such an amazing experience to see the simplicity and joy on their faces.
It put somethings into perspective for me. They didn’t have a care in the world. They where having fun and understood completely how to be in the moment. These kids have very hard lives. Nothing easy about it at all, but that doesn’t stop any of them. I am very proud to be able to say that I have met this children, because they have impacted me way more than I will ever be able to impact them!
