Hard to put into words!

Friday, January 16th, 2009

dscn5400Well, the sun has gone down and we are into night time here in Nairobi. I have experienced so much today and I am trying to settle down from it all so I can properly go through it all in my mind and heart. The children are amazing. I can’t get enough of them. They are full of joy and love and just desire you to take attention to them.

I pulled out my video camera once and started to film them playing. As they started to realize that I had something different - they go excited and huddled all around me. I took the view screen and flipped it around so they could see them selves on the screen as it was recording - this started a frenzy. The kids showed so much transparency and excitment - that it became overwhelming to me. It was such an amazing experience to see the simplicity and joy on their faces.

It put somethings into perspective for me. They didn’t have a care in the world. They where having fun and understood completely how to be in the moment. These kids have very hard lives. Nothing easy about it at all, but that doesn’t stop any of them. I am very proud to be able to say that I have met this children, because they have impacted me way more than I will ever be able to impact them!

True Beauty

I have already had a full day. There is so much to share. We have had rain today, which makes for muddy conditions etc, but it’s a blessing as they have not had rain since Nov

We have been working in a school right outside of the Slums. My heart was so touched. The school is called Hope Christian Academy. I will go in more detail about the World Hope group later.

The kids came out and darted to sing or us. I’ve never heard anything so beautiful. It was amazing. Then they recited poetry and Bible verses. They are filled with such joy and hope. It’s truly inspirational!

I’m in awe!

Off to my first day!

Off the plane and ready to hit the road!

Off the plane and ready to hit the road!

Well, I am filled with about 4 hours of sleep, and the alarm is already blaring. Time to get up and get ready for the day. Lots of emotions are already filling me and I haven’t gotten to the thick of it yet. I arrived so late last night so everything was closed down. Now today, it’s time to work and play with some local kids. I can already hear them outside of where I am staying - sining and playing. Amazing!

Again, thank you all for your prayers and support and well wishes both through email and on Facebook. If you have a Facebook page want to follow the journey there, you can at - http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=58432844536&ref=mf Would love to have you stop by and say hello.
