People are people..

I took this photo today at the Hope Christian Academy. They are a major help to these kids for many reasons. One big one is that they feed the kids for lunch each day at school. This a major deal for these kids!

You know, no matter where we are located or from or what our opinions are on matters, it all comes back to people. When we look at life, without people nothing would happen. It would be boring and our world would be nonexistent.

I am still in awe that it’s 2009 and I am in a part of the world where they are still sufering and hurting like they are here in Nairobi. I am looking at these kids and hugging them - telling them I love you, and taking pics and showing them their own pictures. They get so happy and excited when I get around and hug on them and just share love.

Love changes things. It settles tempers… It settles differences and makes normal issues worth very little. I challenge you today, to step out of your comfort zone. Find someone that you can encourage and talk to. Find someone that you can love on and even find someone you can mend bridges with. I promise you - it will change your life more than the person you talk to.

God bless you all - have a wonderful day.

My new friend Kevin.

My new friend Kevin.

Today was a hard one for me. I had the pleasure to work with Vision Hope today with their Awana program. This is a special treat for the local kids as it gives them activity and a safe place to go and play. Today was the first day of the new year for Awana in 2009, which caused that mush more of excitement. I have a lot of great photos of the day to share, which I started to upload them to my Facebook Event page. Check them out when you get a second. The work that Vision hope is doing over here is really good and much needed! I will get into that in more detail in another post.

I want to introduce you to my new friend and to ask you to desperately pray for him. His name is Kevin Nzoroze and he lives in the Slums. This is one of the sweetest kids around. He is 18 years old now and he lost his Mom to aids in 2002 and his Dad passed away in 2005. He has been wondering the streets since then. Every now and then he finds a friend to let him sleep in their shack to get out of the weather. My heart broke for him - I can hardly explain it. God is good though. This kid has such a wonderful story and is still filled with hope.

Please pray for him and think about him while you look over the photos and read these posts. He deserves a better life!

I’m off to Africa!

I have an amazing opportunity in front of me.

I wanted to share with you all something amazing that is happening in my life and to update you all on a few things.
I am blessed. I have a blessed life and God has blessed me more than I could of ever imagined. I have a wonderful family, a wife that is my iron lug of support (couldn’t do anything without her), 2 healthy and beautiful kids, a wonderful and fun agency filled with the most amazing workers that could be huge assets to any company and clients that I absolutely adore (non more than Mobil 1 - we all know that!).
I had a family friend challenge me recently to step outside of my comfort zone and step back and look at how much I have to be thankful for. He then went on to challenge me to work hard to find ways to give back and to make a bigger impact that what I would do through work etc. He wanted to see me make an impact on the world and take part in something that would change my life and how I view it.
